The Position:
We are looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring that our resort facilities, buildings, and grounds remain in top condition. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable performing a variety of general maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, inspections, and seasonal preparations.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • General Building Maintenance: Perform minor repairs, including light bulb replacements, plumbing fixes, and touch-up painting. Assist with pressure washing, eavestrough cleanouts, and maintaining building exteriors.
  • Facility Checks and Upkeep: Conduct routine inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, shower facilities, and HVAC filters to ensure resort facilities are in optimal working condition.
  • Seasonal Pool and Facility Preparation: Assist with spring opening and fall winterization of pools, potable water supply, and resort amenities.
  • Signage and Property Enhancements: Help install and maintain resort signage, including painting speed bumps and updating property markers as needed.
  • Specialized Maintenance Tasks: Support various resort operations, including bird control efforts, dock repairs, and assisting with wastewater and water treatment plant maintenance.

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Previous experience in general maintenance, landscaping, or a related field is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools such as drills, wrenches, and screwdrivers.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently as part of a team.
  • WHMIS and First Aid/CPR certification are assets.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Availability:

  • Full-time seasonal position from April to mid-October.
  • Must be available for early morning, daytime, and occasional evening or weekend shifts.

Compensation:

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
