Several residents have recently questioned why backup power generation is not in place for the water treatment plant here at the Resort. Please read the attached article published by John Hudson, Electrical Engineer for additional information.
We have been advised by AHS that they are doing what they can to fast-track the results of the water sample testing they are doing. There is a 24 hour incubation period required from the time the test samples are received before the required testing can commence. We will provide you with an update as soon as one is received. Hopefully that will be later today or early tomorrow.
We have also received questions about why previous water outages have not automatically triggered a precautionary boil water advisory. Part of our required safety protocol here at the Resort is to advise AHS when the water treatment plant goes down for any reason. AHS then makes the determination based on their criteria whether a precautionary boil water advisory is necessary. The difference with the most recent outage revolves around the loss of pressure in the lines as reported yesterday.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. We hope the additional information provided below regarding factors to consider regarding backup power generation will be helpful.
